A Science, Technology, Arts, Engineering and Mathematics Laboratory
The AIC/STEAM Lab is being developed to:
- Increase the amount of STEAM curriculum at Ashland High School
- Increase the female student participation in STEAM
- Increase STEAM exposure to younger students to engage them at an early level
Offering access to this new technology and equipment provides students at the Ashland High School, and throughout the district, with an unprecedented opportunity to integrate 21st Century technology tools to meet the Ashland Public School’s Vision and to meet the Technology Literacy Standards set by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Thanks to the incredible vision of the lead educator Chad McGowan & the generosity of the Ashland community & numerous corporate partners – the AIC became fully operational for the start of the 2018-2019 school year and has already had a tremendous impact. It provides a safe, exploratory learning environment where students can engage in problem solving & critical thinking through STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math. With enhanced curriculum at the high school, as well as after-school programs for students throughout the district, our students now have the tools to explore electronics, digital fabrication, 3D printing, engraving, software engineering, robotics, woodworking, cardboard construction, textiles, and sewing…and they are using all these tools to learn & create absolutely amazing things.
